No matter what side you're on, if there's one thing we can all agree with it would be our disappointment over how FNC has been managing AOA as artists and handling things in general. We might have contradicting beliefs and opinions, but if we can set aside our differences and work together, that would be great. I know most of us are still mad or upset; let's direct all of that anger to FNC and demand accountability from them.

PERSONAL

TL;DR
i'm on A8A's side and FNC is trash.
do i believe mina? yes.
am i excusing jimin's actions? no.
i still want the best for ALL of them: both as a group, and individually.

to hell with choosing sides; i'm taking all of them (except FNC). this means that everything here was made with an equally positive bias for ALL the girls of AOA. i do not support the wrong actions committed by any of them, BUT i'm all for their improvement to becoming a better person, as an artist, a friend, and a human being. i did my best to present things in a logical and reasonable point of view. empathy is key—not only on one side, but for all sides; in other words, try putting yourself in their shoes and do your best to see where they're coming from.

i've made a timeline for easier reference to support specific points for each side. if you feel lost or confused about what i'm taking about, kindly check it out on the clarifications / timeline tab.

mina

please read with Mina's POV in consideration

  • evidently hurt/offended by jimin

  • the closet incident definitely traumatized her

  • imagine already being in the vulnerable state of being scared with your dad dying, and then you weren't allowed to cry so as not to ruin the mood

  • clearly scared of jimin and of being told off

  • she wasn't allowed to see her dad before he died; jimin on the other hand was given a VIP room and all her activities were suspended

  • jimin apologized but all the pent up years of emotion cannot be easily resolved

please check the timeline for complete reference

my take:

  • the closet incident is inexcusable

  • her not being able to see her dad before he died is on FNC

  • bullying events: because of the pent up years of emotional suppression since trainee days and the trauma with her dad, jimin's actions could've been taken personally by mina, i.e., there's a possibility that some of these may have been magnified / exaggerated due to her own emotional bias (see: A4A)

  • it's possible that she focused only on jimin so as not to violate an NDA with FNC

  • in her anger might've failed to realize the implications of her actions for A4A and everyone involved

clarification points for Mina

jimin

please read with Jimin's POV in consideration

  • posted the IG story: "fiction"

  • public apology main points:

  • - lacking as a leader

  • - she did wrong

  • - did not understand mina well

  • - acknowledged that things can't be easily resolved

  • - believed that only good things can be shown to the staff and the world

  • - realized she was lacking a humane side as a leader

  • - admitted that her statement is all over the place as well

  • - apologized sincerely to mina and the rest of the members

please check the timeline for complete reference

my take:

  • the fiction story doesn't gauge her "level" of guiltiness in the whole situation (the percentage of what is true and what is not from everything mina said; can be 0-100%)

  • could've been a knee-jerk reaction to defend oneself

  • she admitted and acknowledged her wrongs to mina but not specifically; the humane side for the closet incident should've been, "it's okay mina, i'm so sorry that i can't do anything about this either"

  • in her interview with allure korea jimin admitted to being selfish, disrespectful, and not so nice—but said that she changed because of the members; still, it doesn't excuse the wrong things that she did in the past

  • if she treated other members similarly to how she treated mina as well, then it could point to underlying issues of the work culture at FNC

  • it is also possible situations like this have occurred in other groups too and we just never learned of them

  • people are focusing their energy on hating jimin while i think it’s most important we work to hold FNC accountable in all of this and focus on them addressing the real concerns of this issue

  • her being removed from the group was FNC’s attempt to try and salvage the situation and take the blame off themselves

  • remember that FNC is just as responsible for what happened in the situation and for not properly taking care of their artists

clarification points for Jimin

A4A

please read with A4A's (+Youkyung/Choa) POV in consideration

  • youkyung posted 2 ambiguous posts, then unfollowed all members and the official AOA account

  • liked mina's IG update (A4A + Y)

  • seolhyun still on activities

  • hyejeong reading DMs / viewing stories on IG

  • mina unfollowed seolhyun and chanmi, still follows yuna, hyejeong and the AOA account

  • chanmi went priv, unfollowed everyone except her cat, deleted / archived posts with any AOA member, then went public again

  • yuna liking posts

  • hyejeong posted an update thanking the My Unfamiliar Family team + fans

  • chanmi continues on with Mobidic and Idol League

  • suspended YouTube video uploads for likeCHANMI, YunariTV, and Boss Baby Jiminem

  • AOA_FANCLUB keeps on posting activity updates

please check the timeline for complete reference

my take:

  • Y said it herself: she was focused on her own struggles that she failed to consider others' struggles as well; it could be the same for A4A + choa

  • bullying incidents according to mina has 2 possibilities, given it's 100% true:

  • (1) they're also recipients of this behavior and it's non-personal; it might've been normalized according to FNC's training standards

  • (2) it's either jimin was able to hide all of it well, or they knew and (what i said in mina's section + 1st point + FNC's work culture)

  • specific events told by mina sounds so much like hazing (speaking formally to the leader, can't cry during promotions, etc.)

  • not everything is black and white: maybe they're siding with both but expressing it would cause more confusion than resolution atm

  • with mina's emotional instability they could also be misinterpreted by her

  • why being silent might be the best move rn: any statement could easily be taken against them, at least with the current state of people being emotionally driven

clarification points for A4A / Youkyung

FNC

please read with FNC's POV in consideration

icb i'm also making one for them, but you know what they say: think like your enemy 😂

  • unfair treatment between jimin and mina re: father's death

  • removed jimin from AOA but not FNC

  • said they will take (?) responsibility

  • easily addressed issues re: SF9's dawon and rowoon + seolhyun's rumors but still nothing about this

  • looks like they still have plans for AOA (team stuff with CheBul)

  • prioritizes money wbk

please check the timeline for complete reference

my take:

  • FNC is trash and they suck BIG TIME

  • if mina really did violate something on the contract:

  • (1) they can sue, but that's just rubbing salt to the wound and adding insult to injury, plus everyone would gang up on them at this point lmao

  • (2) they can try to resolve it internally, like compensation, reaching out through A4A; until then, silence and non-group activities for OT4

  • best way out to clear AOA's name—apologize to the public, acknowledge their faults and come clean with everything that happened from the start: all their trash (training procedures, contracts)

  • this would be a shot in the stars but: A6A reunion if and when they resolve things (i'm a clown 🤡)

  • if they only did things right from the very start most of these could've been avoided but duh

Action plan

With FNC's incompetence, the AOE fandom currently divided, and non-fans contributing to spreading hate, malicious rumors and speculations, this could just be the lowest point of AOA's career. I came up with these so that we can unite in holding FNC accountable, with the hopes that our girls will be able to get through this and doing our best in supporting them.
